OCNI is committed to advancing progressive Indigenous relations within the nuclear industry and will continue to support members as they invest and engage with Indigenous communities, create employment opportunities for Indigenous peoples, procure from Indigenous-owned businesses, and raise the bar for Indigenous Engagement (IE) programs globally.

As part of this commitment, OCNI is offering a free online monthly Indigenous Engagement Q&A session to provide member organizations with an opportunity to ask Chief Emeritus Emily Whetung, Senior Indigenous Engagement Advisor, and Terri-Lynn Woods, Manager, Indigenous Engagement and Special Projects questions and guidance about Indigenous engagement and programs.

Topics for discussion could include:
  • Developing land acknowledgements
  • Community engagement protocols
  • Indigenous culture and worldviews
  • Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and how to implement them in your organization
  • Building Indigenous engagement framework
  • Indigenous employment and procurement strategies
  • Engagement questions specific to your organization

This is a safe inclusive space for open conversation.
