Join us for a webinar hosted in partnership with the Canadian Nuclear Law Organization on June 28th!

The imperatives to address climate change and poverty crises require widespread adoption of affordable, feasible, safe, and environmentally sustainable sources for electricity.  700 million people live on less than $1.90 per day, 1.3 billion people are multi-dimensionally poor, 840 million people worldwide have no access to electricity, and 2.9 billion people use solid fuels to cook or heat their homes. Access to electricity is highly correlated with reductions in infant mortality and extension of adult life expectancy; yet burning fossil fuels is correlated with the opposite trends. At COP28, 22 governments made a commitment to triple installed nuclear capacity. Canada’s policy, as evidenced in the last several budgets, is consistent with this consensus on the necessity to deploy nuclear power generation with significant capacity in aid of Net Zero policy objectives. This panel will discuss emerging policies and their implications for the nuclear sector in Canada.
